February 2018, Dubai: Registration is now open for the 26th annual Reebok Wadi Bih Run, the oldest trail-run in the region with five relay and solo race categories. Taking place from 2nd – 3rd February 2018. Race routes will cross from the Golden Tulip Hotel Dibba on the Omani coast through Wadi Khabb Shamsi to the high point of the Hajjar mountains with a view into Wadi Bih.

Runners must submit their passport and visa details online before 18th January 2018 to register for the Reebok Wadi Bih Run.

2018 race categories include:

  • Team 72km – the original classic relay race which has been running since 1993.
  • Team 50km – a shortened relay race aimed at families and younger runners, which skips the steep hills at the end of the course.
  • Zighy 30km – a 30km solo race which traverses up and down the steep mountain road to the picturesque Zighy Bay.
  • Canyon 52km – a 52km solo race which crosses through the dramatic Wadi Khabb Shamsi canyon to the foot of the mountain.
  • Mountain 72km – the full gruelling 72km race course with over 1,000km of ascent up to a high point with a view in Wadi Bih.

All solo races and the Relay 50km will take place on Friday 2nd February. The original Relay 72km race will take place on Saturday 3rd February.

Race Director Neil Young commented, “The Reebok Wadi Bih Run continues to be a hugely popular highlight on the running calendar due to its dramatic off-road routes. The solo races have grown from a few extreme athletes attempting ‘something different’, to becoming the ultimate regional long-distance running challenge with stiff competition. We urge entrants to register soon to avoid disappointment for this fantastic weekend.”

The Relay 72km and Relay 50km races are for teams of five, on routes marked into stages ranging from 1.5km to 4.2 km in distance. Individual runners must take turns to run each stage while their support vehicle transports the other team members along the course, except for the first and last stage where four members of the team are required to run together. All categories will start and finish at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Dibba, providing runners with the option to stay for the night/weekend at the hotel or camp on the beach nearby. A race village at the hotel will provide amenities, food and a number of entertainment options for the whole family throughout both days.

Registration will close at 23:59 18th January 2018, or when the maximum number of entrants has been reached.
