Firstly, the Wadi Bih team would like to thank you for being a loyal participant of the race, especially during such tough times. We greatly appreciate your continued support over the years.
The Wadi Bih team is and will continue to closely follow the COVID-19 guidelines set by the World Health Organization (W.H.O), whilst respecting and complying with all the precautionary measures and regulations set by the federal and individual authorities.
During our upcoming race in Hatta, we will take necessary measures to ensure safety of our participants and their family members, during the preparation, event set up, transportation, registration, run and closeout. Rest assured, this remains our top priority.
We would like to share with you just some of the very important operational measures we would be taking, and require your support in, to ensure the safety of all participants and the general public:
Sanitization stations:
The Wadi Bih team will be set up multiple sanitization stations throughout the venue as well as on the checkpoints. It is imperative for teams to sanitize the bib before the exchange has taken place at each respective checkpoint. We still advise teams to ensure there is sanitizer in their cars and to regularly sanitize throughout the race.
For the team events there will be a single bib with the chipped timer which has to be passed between the active runners and It is imperative for teams whilst swapping timing bibs that they sanitize the bibs first at each respective checkpoint.
Staggered start times:
Just for this edition, we will not have all Solo categories starting together. There will be staggered starts for participants, ensuring safe distancing guidelines are met.
For the solo race categories, they will start at a different time and within each solo category runners will be spaced out by at least 1.5 m.
For the team categories, each team will be set off individually and the forerunners on the first stage will be separated by at least 1.5 m.
Since the race is timed automatically, through timing chipped bibs, there would be no disparities between the timing.
Temperature check:
A member of the Wadi Bih team will be checking the temperature of each participant at the registration desk. Unfortunately, any participant with a temperature higher than 37.3* C, will not be allowed to take part in the race and be advised to visit the nearest hospital for a check-up.
Additionally, should anyone feel sick prior to the race, we request you to stay indoors for your safety and that of others.
Social distancing and general guidelines:
It is of utmost importance that we all follow the social distancing guidelines. We request everyone to adhere to the below:
- Not to congregate in large groups before/after the race. Participants can enjoy their post-race lunch with their families or in groups of maximum 4.
- Camping tents to be set up with at least 2 meters gap between them.
- For teams of 5, it is mandatory to have a 7 seater 4x4, as opposed to a 5 seater 4x4, so that 4 participants can be seated without breaking any laws (breakdown - 1 driving, 2 in the middle and 1 at the back).
- For teams of 4 or less, a 5 seater 4x4 vehicle should suffice.
- Cover your sneeze or cough with a tissue or bent elbow.
- Avoid hugging, shaking hands, kissing or nose-to-nose greetings others.
- Disposing of used tissues, food, bottles, etc directly into the bin.
Face-masks:
We request and urge all participants to have their face-masks on at all times, except when running. As this is a mandatory requirement from the authorities.
We require your support on the above mentioned guidelines in order to ensure the safety of everyone Participating, supporting and organizing the event. Thank you in advance for your co-operation.
